Themes

In Sitefinity CMS themes are part of the Web Forms and hybrid page templates. You can set custom colors, images, and styles for the different layout templates.

NOTE: Themes do not apply to pure MVC page templates.

The following is a simple scheme of a theme’s folder content:

NOTE: Folder Global is mandatory. If the folder is missing it is not possible to register or load the theme.

NOTE: You can place your theme files in the root folder (~/App_Themes/ThemeName) as it is in ASP.NET convention, but all of your CSS files will be loaded no matter in which folder they are placed (Global, Styles, CSS etc.)

Register a theme
Once you create or customize a theme for a Web Forms and hybrid page templates, you must register it in your site’s backend.
Use XML file to order the loading of the CSS files
In the Global folder of a file structure of a theme, place as many CSS files as needed. To load them in specific order, describe them in cssLoadOrder.xml file.
Apply a theme
Once you prepare a theme, assign it to a Web Forms or hybrid page template. After assigning theme to template, all pages using this template use the theme as well.
Apply a theme to the entire public website
Set a theme as a default frontend theme to apply it to a whole website. Optionally apply a different theme to a specific page or page template.
