Backend languages and labels
Use this procedure to manage all labels and messages of Sitefinity CMS. Sitefinity CMS has user interface, where all labels and messages, displayed in the backend, are listed. You can change labels and messages and you can export all existing labels, translate them, and import them back in Sitefinity CMS. This way you can create different language versions of the Sitefinity CMS backend.
PREREQUISITES: You can translate only the classic content editing experience. For more information, see New content editing experience.
Because Sitefinity CMS backend contains both classic and new content editing experiences, only some backend pages can be translated using this method.
NOTE: Sitefinity CMS has already translated language packs, which you can download and install. For more information, see Backend languages.
You install language packs and create and edit labels on Labels & Messages page. To open Labels & Messages page, in the main menu, click Administration » Labels & Messages.
A list of labels and messages appears.
NOTE: If you have more than one backend languages added, you can display the labels in each of the languages. By default, on Labels & Messages page, the system displays the defaults of the labels and messages that are set in Invariant Language. The Invariant Language is used in case you switch back to monolingual mode. In this case, the system displays the labels and messages that are entered in the Invariant Language field. The Invariant Language is also used in case that a label does not have a translation in the default language or the language that is currently used. In this case, the system displays as label or message the text that is set in Invariant Language field.
Using the Change dropdown list in the toolbar of the page, you can display labels and messages in all backend languages that you have added.
For more information about adding backend languages, see Administration: Language settings » Adding backend languages.
