Image properties
Overview
After you have uploaded an image into a Sitefinity CMS library, you can configure or modify various properties of the image.
To do this, perform the following:
- On Images page, open the library where the image is located.
- Locate and click the image.
The Image properties page appears.
You can change the following properties:
Replace the image or change the title
- To use a different image for this translation, click
(Replace image for current translation) button.
You can use this button to replace the image with another one, in case you want to update an image without having to reconfigure anything else. You can also use it to have different images for the different language versions of your website.
- Change the title of the image, by entering a new title in Title input field.
- Change or enter alternative text for the image, using the Alternative text field.
The text that you enter in Alternative text is used for accessibility reasons and by search engines.
- Change the library that the image belongs to by clicking
(Edit) button and selecting the new library in the dropdown box that appears.
Edit image details
To add details to the image, expand Details section.
The following input fields appear:
- Author
Enter an author of the image or edit the existing one.
- Description
The description you enter in this input field appears as a tooltip for the image in browsers that support ToolTips feature. When the image is opened, the description appears under the image.
Manage categories and tags
Change the categories and the tags that are assigned to the image, by expanding Categories and tags section.

Edit image URLs
By expanding More options, you can change the following:
- The automatically generated URL of the image.
Under URL, click
(Edit) and enter a new URL name.
- The additional URLs for the image.
Under Additional URLs, click
(Add additional URL), enter the URLs one per line, and press ENTER

Use the following convention /images/<URL name>
- The automatically generated URL of the image file.
To change it, under URL to file, click
(Edit) and enter a new URL.
- The additional URLs for the image file.
Click
(Add additional URL), enter the URLs one per line, and press ENTER

Fill out Custom fields
If you have added any custom fields for images, all created fields, appear at the end in automatically generated section Custom fields.

IMPORTANT: Some of the above fields may not be displayed when you edit the properties of an image, because they have been hidden.
