Course Description

 Progress Developer Studio for OpenEdge (Developer Studio) is an Eclipsed-based integrated development environment for ABL developers that enables you to create, test, debug, and integrate OpenEdge applications.

In this course, you learn how to create a workspace, create an ABL project, use the OpenEdge Editor perspective, manage resources in your workspace, and debug OpenEdge applications. In this course, you first learn how to create, start, and modify a workspace, Next, you learn how to create, import and export a project, configure a database connection for a project, add PROPATH to a project and a schema file in PROPATH. Next, you learn how to create, modify, compile and execute ABL code efficiently using OpenEdge Editor perspective. Then, you learn how to manage resources in your workspace, customize workspace views, create project archive, configure PAS for OpenEdge, and export and import workspace preferences. Finally, you learn about configuring and launching debugging session, and use breakpoints for debugging application code.

Prerequisites

Before you begin this lesson, you should meet the following prerequisites:

  • Ability to manage services and run programs in Windows.

  • Knowledge of the OpenEdge process architecture.
